#30Jobs30Days: I used my spring clean checklist to do 30 jobs in 30 days to get a clean home and I’m pleased to say that I’m now out at the other side! A month of sweeping, dusting and scrubbing has left me feeling tired but organised but at least we are all set for summer!
Having a clear out has been on my agenda all month but I don’t just mean my home. Within the last 30 days I have re-vamped this whole website, leaving behind my old design and embracing the new. I’ve edited and evaluated six years’ worth of content and cherry picked the best posts and only this worthy content has made it over to my new virtual home… the site that you are currently viewing! In addition, I’ve also managed a home office makeover and am currently putting the finishing touches to that – I’ll have a ‘before and after’ post ready to share with you soon!

So in the spirit of cleaning out, I’ve taken up a challenge from electrical retailer AO to ‘get rid of dirty in 30!’ They threw down the gauntlet last month with their #30jobs30days challenge and you can read my first post and see where I was a month ago here.
After a mega busy month I can tell you that I feel so much better for having the clear out. I have done each one of AO’s 30 tasks to spring clean my home but if I’m completely honest, I didn’t do them one day at a time – it was more like three lots of 10 jobs per time… batch tasks if you will!
But if you take the ‘one a day’ approach, you’d find that it takes very little time to actually get to a fully clean home when you are keeping on top of it. Some things are quicker than others but it’s easy to clean plastic toys by putting them into the top rack of the dishwasher and wipe down skirting boards using fabric softener sheets – these were two of AO’s suggestions. I didn’t realise that using shaving foam on a mirror and a clean cloth will bring the mirror up streak free- this was an easy trick – although the tip on removing pet hairs from the sofas using a rubber glove took a lot longer. Of course you can always delegate and bring in a cleaning company but for my own DIY approach, simply print off your spring clean checklist and use it to ensure that you get around your whole home within the next 30 days. My home certainly feels a lot fresher for it!
AO sent me a checklist and some cleaning products to complete this task.
Wow, it certainly sounds like you’ve been busy! I think I could do with trying something like this – a big spring clean always sounds so daunting so I keep putting if off. Love the new look by the way!
Thanks Laura, I’m glad you like the new look site! The idea of a Spring Clean is a bit daunting isn’t it? But one job a day makes is less so, and I’m pleased that my home is refreshed now!!
It’s that time of year again! You have just given me the motivation to do some Spring Cleaning of my own!
I can believe a little each day can make a difference. I am looking to declutter at the moment and sort as lots of stuff has been moved round to allow for decorating and that is finished now, but stuff hasn’t made it’s way back. I’ve been doing a little this week and I’m already noticing the difference.
I hope you get sorted soon Erica!
Wow girl you have been very busy and productive! I love the new site, and know how much work it takes making changes and going through old posts and stuff – I’m doing it myself!
I’m going to go back and check the 30 day challenge as I think I need to implement that into my life! xx
I know Michelle- it takes aaaaaaggggeeessssssssss to go through all the old stuff but I feel like a snake shedding its skin, at least everything now is all shiny and new!! x
Love the look of your blog, you certainly have been busy. I think I need to take up some kind of challenge to get things sorted.
Thanks hun!
Bicarbonate and soda is brilliant for cleaning so many things. My favourite is to mix it with bleach into a sort of paste, use an old toothbrush and slap on bathroom/kitchen tiles, leave it on for 5 minutes minimum and then wash it off – gets rid of all the dirt and grime x
Ooh fab tip – thanks! x
My mum used to do this. We dont have any silverware – thankfully! I am going to admit the sometimes cleaning and housework gets on top of me
I always use proper silver cleaner but willing to give this a go – it was always my job when I lived at home with my mum.
I love cleaning tips and hacks that are cheaper or make life easier!
I love the smells of a freshly cleaned home! Well done you for sticking to a 30 day list, admirable!xx
Wow. You have been so productive! I’ll have to try that tip for the bathroom mirror, I clean ours twice a day and it’s always smeared. Pesky kids! 🙂
Bicarb is one of those amazing things, its just so useful. I haven’t tried cleaning silver with it yet, I’ll have to give it a whirl.
We moved house in March and I am trying so hard not to slip back into my old ways – so far so good, but living with 3 kids and means something constantly needs doing!!
I love having a good clear out too – great tips!
I actually really love doing a bit of spring cleaning! Great tips 🙂
Thats a great challenge to get the hose spinck and spank.
