Getting there
The first reason that Malaysia is such an excellent destination for a family break is that even from the UK you can get there within a day! In fact, you will find that there are over 20 scheduled flights a week travelling from the UK to Malaysia, with three different airlines to choose from. A fact that means it easy to shop around for the best deal and save on your fare, even if you are taking the entire family.

Additionally, a direct flight from the UK to Malaysia will take around 13 hours. OK, so it’s not a short hop over the pond, but what it is a way to arrive at a far-flung and exotic location with your family in under 24 hours. Something that means you still get a lot of time, once you have arrived, to have fun.

Staying there
The next reason why Malaysia is such a great family holiday location is the range of accommodation that is on offer. In fact, Malaysia is a country where you can stay in some high-end places for a pretty reasonable cost, something that makes it past particularly popular with families.

Of course, you will need to decide on what type of accommodation you will choose before you book your trip. Some families like to take advantage of the reasonable rates and stay in a hotel in one of Malaysia’s larger cities like Khula Lumpur where you can get a family room in a place like the 5 stars The Ritz-Carlton, for only £219 a night.

Of course, there is an even more, cost-effective option to consider, and it’s finding a house for sale in Malaysia, that can be used as a holiday home. Something that can end up costing a lot less than you would think.

In fact, this option is one that especially suits families that have visited Malaysia before and fallen in love with it as their regular vacation destination. The reason being that by finding a holiday home you have all the added benefits of having a permanent residence which means you can keep toys, highchairs, and buggies for the kids there without worrying about. It even means that you get to set your own schedule and meals as well, something that can be a godsend when it comes to travelling with children.

Family-friendly activities to do during your stay
Lastly, one of the most crucial things that make Malaysia a great vacation location is the fact that there are so many family-friendly things to do there.

The first location that should definitely be on your list is Kuala Lumpur because of the attractions that you will find there including the Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, and Aquaria KLCC, Kuala Lumpur.

In fact, the bird park is a popular location for both children and adults alike, mainly because there are no aviaries there and instead the park is covered by a high and wide-ranging net. What this means is that both the birds and the visitors to the park are free to roam and get much more genuine experience. In fact, many families choose to take a picnic and make a day of it here because it’s such a lush green location.

Alternatively, if your kids are more interested in the wildlife that lives under the sea than in the sky, the best place to visit will be the Aquaria KLCC. There you will find a large facility with many different types of creatures including sharks, Japanese spider crabs, and even otters and turtles. In fact, if you check out their website here you can plan your visit to be in sync with the animals’ feeding times, which means you are much more likely to get an up close and personal view, something to the kids are bound to love!

Another fantastic activity that is perfect for the entire family is travelling out to Sabah to experience the Tabin Wildlife Reserve. In fact, for many families just the experience of staying in the magical wooden cabins dotted through the forest is a special treat, but when you combine it with the opportunity to go on safari and see elephants, ocelots, and a myriad of tropical birds it really will be an experience they will never forget.

Now, the plethora of wildlife education and activities are not the only reason that Malaysia Is such an excellent choice for families. In fact, there are some fantastic attractions that are set up just for kids to experience as well.

One of the most famous of these is KidZania in Mutiara Damansara which is basically a mini indoor city built just for kids. The idea of this being that they get to experience some of the things that adults do such as work at such as being a fireperson, a scientist, or even a doctor. All in a safe and kid-sized way. There are even some pretty cool activities for parents to do with their kids as well such a karaoke and an escape room, so it really is a brilliant place for the whole family.

Lastly, what with Malaysia being a relatively hot and humid country, the fact that they have a LEGOLAND Water Park in Johor is a plus for parents and kids alike. Open from early May each year you will find flumes, rubber ring rides, and even opportunities to build and sail your own boat in the water park.

However, that isn’t all that is on offer here as there are is also a full dry theme park with roller coasters, merry go rounds, and adventure playgrounds too, as well as a selection of eateries and cafes. Therefore if it’s a family-friendly location you are after, Malaysia is truly a smart choice.
