Come as you are

Written by

“Come as you are
Don’t bring your airs and graces
Just your open, welcome faces
Take a seat, stay awhile
Share your heart, share a smile
You’re welcome to be who you are
And join my friends from near and far
The only rule is this
And it could be hit or miss
But I plead you not to resist
…Just be exactly who you are”

Thank you for reading my blog, friends. I love that you are here, I love that you comment, and if you are a new reader – welcome!

I don’t write poetry much but I had a flash of inspiration when I wrote this. I think it sums up how I am, how I feel and my approach to people both through the screen and in real life. Just be who you are, because that is who I want to know. I don’t care for airs and graces. I don’t care how much money you earn, where you live, who you love, what Higher Power you pray to, what your education is. I may not always agree with you but I will respect your opinion, and ask that you respect mine. If I care about you, then I care about the things you like because you like them, not because I know anything about them.

Naked blogger

I took this selfie recently – as a naked blogger! I wasn’t actually naked, I’d just pulled down the straps of my vest and bra for the pic but I was at an event and trying to win a hamper! I didn’t win by the way… I wonder why?! But I kinda liked the picture and idea of being a naked blogger. Naked as in real. Not hiding, no falseness, just who I am. This photo inspired this post and my poem! I hope you enjoyed it!

In the spirit of showing you who I am, here are all the links to other places I’m online so you can see what else I get up to when I’m not posing naked!

  • I’ve always thought that about you Nadine. What you see is what you get, and I like that. Probably why I’ve always warmed to you. Though that could be because you’re basically a nice person. And I mean nice in a good way, not nice, as in can’t you think of a better word than nice. I reserve pleasant for moments describing that kind of person 😉

    • hahaha Helen, you are so funny!! How can anyone get offended at ‘nice!’ What I love about blogging is the fantastic women I have become friends with (you included) over the years, from all over the country. Our paths may never have crossed had it not been for blogging, for that I’m grateful.

  • I think that you are the same on line as you are in person. You are really welcoming and always happy to help and game for a laugh

  • Great post and this is what I am aiming for, being naked, real and true. What a great name for a blog, although can you imagine the search phrases!

  • Great, honest poem, and great pic too. Chuckling here about Kizzy’s suggestion for Naked Blogger as a blog name. Wondering what sort of comments you would get…

  • Lovely post and poem. It is so hard to be “naked” in blogging and in life in general, but so important to keep trying to be honest and really just bring yourself 🙂 I loved it.

  • ah this is lovely, it’s really important to just be yourself isn’t it. I think more than anything it would be too tiring to pretend to be anything else! x
