Date night is practically every night before you have children, all those evenings spent at the cinema or bar. Weekends away together and lazy Sunday mornings in bed with the papers and a pot of coffee. Once you start a family, it is harder to get alone time together but it’s important to try so you keep that spark for each other alive.
If you struggle to get together for a regular date night because you don’t have a babysitter, here’s a few ways to create that date night experience at home… After the children are in bed!
My best tip is to schedule in a particular night – put it in the diary so it happens. The anticipation of the night may have you smiling secretly to yourself all day! What are your strategies for having a date night with your spouse? Let me know in the comments!
There are lots of other advantages to date nights at home, as well as childcare; you can eat what you want, when you want, you save petrol and can drink as much as you like without arguing about who’s driving!
haha I’d not thought of the driving thing – great point!
I like this idea, we both get wrapped up with our own little hobbies in the evenings. I fancy a romantic date thou. x
Lovely to have your hobbies too!
We spend most evenings together watching TV, but the weekend nights tend to be a bit more special with wine.
Ah yes, we do that too at weekends!
We have a date morning, as hubby is self-employed too. We do coffee and uninterrupted chat once a week, great for sorting out underlying issues and keeping the flame going between us too.xx
That’s an awesome idea Oana. I would love a coffee morning with my husband but as a builder he’s out to jobs so early! x
I am not a date night person. We spend most evenings together at home, there is no need to schedule it in our diary. I guess we are both homebodies that enjoy each others company!
That’s a lovely style to have – cosy nights at home!
I am lucky that I have an older daughter I can tap up to babysit. We try and get out once a month now where possible
How lovely. And a plus that your eldest helps out too!
We always think about ‘date’ nights but in reality it never happens, ha! We spend a lot of time together anyhow – both work from home and I have babysitters on tap so we can go out whenever we want!
Ooh fab- lucky you!
We have regular date nights too, both at home and going somewhere.
I think it’s great to focus on the two of us every once in a while x
Yes, it does us the world of good too!
ooh, saucy – I just clicked through you your Mode article and saw the final bit, about taking the date night into the bath. Oooh la la!
Ooh lala!!!
