If you are looking for Halloween events in Yorkshire, here are a few great ideas for families.
Farmer Copleys Pumpkin Festival is a favourite place to visit as they have a delicious farm shop! However their Halloween event is on throughout October (see the website for dates). Best of all it’s free and very suitable for young children. Here is a photo I took after carving a pumpkin inspired by last year’s Pumpkin Festival:
Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park is Yorkshire’s No.1 scream park and Halloween destination and they are celebrating 5 years of fear this year at their appropriately named Hell Lane site! Learn more and book tickets here.
Lightwater Valley, North Yorkshire’s exciting theme park are once again holding their spooky themed ‘Frightwater Valley‘ weekend at the end of October. The theme park started life as a pig farm but became a major attraction in the mid 1980s after the purchase and creation of the Rat Rollercoaster.
Ripley Castle in Harrogate is holding its ‘Spooktacular’ Week the last week of October. There will be castle ghost stories, Halloween craft activities and a spooky garden trail.
Stockeld Park has been home of the Christmas Adventure for years, but did you know that they also do a Fright Night spectacular! Prepare to be scared with your children!
Tropical world in Leeds has a free event called Batty Bats on the 27th October where all ages can learn about the bats and spiders that live at Tropical World – you can even make your own bat!
My children have always enjoyed Halloween, this is them getting ready to Trick or Treat a few years ago!
And a few years later!
What will you be doing this Halloween? Do you have any fun events like this near you?
Ooh I didn’t know that so many places did Halloween events, I will have to check out my area to see if there are any. x
It gets bigger and bigger each year doesn’t it?
Oooh I love the sound of these; you’ve inspired me to see what’s going on in our local area!
Try a pumpkin patch field – makes for some nice photos!
What a great round up of some super events! I am planning to find some in Notts and do more with Joshua this year
Hope you had a nice Halloween!
I love Halloween but wish we went all out a bit more like America with the haunted houses etc. Great suggestions, the Scream Park sounds amazing, if only I lived closer!
Each year we seem to be getting closer to that!
Fab events. We love lightwater valley. It is one of the boys favorite theme parks
Ours too and it’s so near!!
We love Halloween but usually just keep it local as everyone down our road goes to town with dressing their houses and themselves up for the occasion! As it falls on a Saturday this year we will have to look out for some fun things to do in the day as well. Great list there – have fun! x
Hope you had a fun Halloween!
We’ve never really ‘done’ halloween before but now Cheeky Chap is 5 I might do something this year, at least look into what’s happening locally.
My kids always love to ‘Trick or Treat’ at Grandma’s house! They are guaranteed a big bag of treats there!
So many great events Nadine, I wish Yorkshire was closer! I’ve not looked into events yet but I know a rather fabulous farm not far from us does pumpkin picking. We did it last year and POD absolutely loved it! I do love Halloween 🙂
I do too! I wanted to get a head start on the season so I would know where I’d take the kids!
I love Halloween and this is such a great round-up. I’m not sure what we’re doing this year as it falls in half-term so not sure if we’re going away or not. Love your little ones all dressed up!
My son always goes for the werewolf!! They are so funny!
I’d love to visit a pumpkin festival! I might have to look out for one local!
Try your local Farm Shop – that’s a great place to start!
Looks like there is plenty of spooky fun going on in Yorkshire. we have a packed day planned here as well and I always hand out a sheet of other local events during the week, Halloween has become a lot of fun and I’m all for it. thank you for sharing with me on Country Kids.
Thanks for your comment Fiona. I bet Halloween is fab at Coombe Mill. I’ll have to stop by one year!
We aren’t really Halloween fans but I’m sure the kids and hubby will want to dress up and do something
What some fantastic sounding events – I love the sound of a pumpkin festival. x
We haven’t spent Halloween at home for the last two years, but this year we will be here and are attending an event locally
Wow there’s loads going on around you! We go pumpkin carving and usually go to a Halloween disco and may visit family for sweets on the way home
Yes- the visit to family for sweets is a must in our home too!!
These sounds like fun trips out for Halloween. Must start thinking about what we will be doing.
These all look like fun. Trick or treating is a big thing in our village and all the local kids join in with that.
Oooh I need to find something in Nottingham, mine always complain we don;t go trick or treating, but we live on such a big road…
My eldest wants to be let loose on her own with her friends this year, rather than me accompanying them! That’s frightening enough!!
Fantastic post with so many good tips. Now I just need to find the time to visit everything! All the events/places sound too good to miss.
Thank you for your comment!
Oh wow, you have so many fun things to do near you. We have great fun at home intact so much fun that my girls have informed me that they don’t want to go to any parties as it stops them having special fun at hone … must be doing something right 🙂
haha bless them!

I didn’t realize that you all celebrate Halloween and dress up and carve pumpkins like we do in the US! Do you trick or treat as well?
Gosh yes- it’s a big deal – getting bigger each year! The houses with pumpkins displayed are the ones who are happy to have visitors – that seems to be the ‘code’. This way you don’t bother neighbours who don’t want to participate!
