Kids Food Ideas: Meatballs
I wanted to find a way to make plain old meatballs seem more appealing to my picky youngster so I decided to do a twist on pork meatballs by using them as a breakfast item rather than doing a main meal. I created a ‘tractor breakfast’.
My recipe makes a delicious filling breakfast in just 8 minutes and is a fun start to your child’s day!
Ingredients:
1 regular tomato
1 cherry tomato (for the wheels)
2 slices toast
1 cheese slice (for the window)
1 fried egg (for the sun)
1 portion of scrambled eggs (for the steam)
3 or 4 Richmond Mini Meatballs for the chimney
A few slices of green pepper to garnish (for the grass)
1. Put the Richmond Pork Meatballs into the oven for 8 minutes as per packet instructions
2. Whilst this is cooking, grill the tomatoes, chop the green pepper for the grass and fry your egg for the sun (to get it ‘neat’, I used a stainless steel presentation ring to form the circle, cracked the egg into it and leave to fry).
3. Put the toast into the toaster and prepare scrambled eggs in a separate pan. Cut a cheese slice in half.
4. When the meatballs are done, assemble all the ingredients into a tractor as shown!
Here is my daughter with her breakfast!
However, that’s not all!
I had plenty of meatballs left over so I also made something my son would love…. Caterpillar Kebabs!
Just put a small dab of BBQ sauce onto the first meatball for ‘eyes’!
Here is my son enjoying his treat!
The kids enjoyed something different to start the day with and I enjoyed the challenge of creating something fun looking out of the meatballs!!
