On a Canvas Countdown

On a Canvas Countdown

With the celebrations of Christmas and New Year long gone and no prospect of UK sunshine on the immediate horizon, are your thoughts turning to your summer holidays like mine? I’ve just booked an early summer week away with Canvas Holidays! This summer when it’ll be a beautiful 25 degrees celsius in Italy, we’re headed to Camping Bella Italia holiday park on Lake Garda – one of Canvas Holidays’ 25 resorts in Italy.

Canvas have more than 80 campsites in 8 European countries, all designed with families in mind, when I visited one of their popular resorts in France on a trip to Disneyland Paris with a group of bloggers, I could see just how much there was on offer. The Bella Italia will have 2 swimming pools, a children’s playground, loads of activities from football to canoeing as well as being practically next door to Gardaland, a theme park that my kids are really excited about visiting.

The area of Lake Garda is beautiful. I was last there 13 years ago whilst pregnant with my eldest, on a family holiday for my mother’s wedding! The place holds fond memories for us as a couple, so it’ll be nice to make some new memories as a family in this chic villagy area. I remember the towns around Lake Garda being both historic with the medieval architecture and cosmopolitan with the stylish Italians taking their holidays there and lots of pavement cafes!

We will fly from Birmingham airport direct to Verona with a flight time of 2 hours 5 minutes making it an easy trip for families and with transfers either side taking around two hours we’ll be in holiday mode before we know it.

Canvas Holidays are an affordable travel option for families, offering as the name suggests, holidays under canvas in safari tents and maxi tents but they also have mobile homes, static caravans and wooden lodges too as accommodation options. Families of up to 10 can stay in the lodges – or you can travel with another family and share the cost!

We will be staying in the Moda mobile home which has two bedrooms, a shower room, kitchen and living area and a good sized decked area outside. Now our children are getting older (13 and 8) they want their own bedroom on holiday. In the past we’ve all shared a room if we’ve had to but it’s nice for them to have their space during the trip and us to have ours. We will spend all day every day together on the break so it’s nice to have that privacy at night for sleeping although we will have plenty of BBQs on the decking in the evening!

The summer will be here before we know it, so even though I like to live each day one at a time, my kids are definitely on a Canvas countdown!

Summer deals are available with family holidays for under £600 and Easter from just £254 per week!

  • This sounds fab, we’ve only ever stayed in gites in France but I am trying to get my husband to stay in a caravan or similar, it just makes me think of being on holiday.

  • I would love to stay in a lodge with my bestie and her four kids over the summer! I have never been to Italy. We are off to France in May and then Holland in October

  • I didn’t know that they had one close to Disneyland – I shall look into it as it will make our planned trip for 2017 cheaper

    • It’s just over an hour’s drive from the site to Disneyland so you would need a hire car but yes, it would certainly make the accommodation side cheaper.

  • I love Lake Garda, it’s such a beautiful area. My favourite day out from there was a trip to Verona which is worth the travel to spend the day there x

  • I hope you have a wonderful time. I have never been to Italy and it is a place i have always wanted to visit. I love the sound of sleeping in a canvas tent. Especially snuggled up with my family 🙂

  • Sounds fantastic, we’ve never been on a canvas holiday, but have stayed at some of their campsites.

    • Doing Europe the ‘camping’ way makes it so much more affordable, and a lot of fun!
