Whether you want to go far or just explore some sights nearby, caravanning is a great way to relax. Caravan getaways have become a great budget break for families, couples or people looking for some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle from everyday life. Caravans might not have the best reputation in some places, but that’s mainly down to bad planning or bad weather.
Caravans have certainly improved in recent years. They now come in so many different shapes and sizes and are definitely more luxurious then in previous years. You still have to plan when you go caravanning though, that part hasn’t changed. However, hopefully this list can help you plan quicker and more efficiently.

Your Essentials
Forgetting something essential can potentially ruin your trip, so it’s worthwhile making a checklist of everything you need so that you know that you won’t forget things. You might think that you’ll easily remember but it’s easy enough to forget a toothbrush or even your phone charger.
It’s not the end of the world if you do forget something as you can easily buy most things. But it is frustrating. Some important things to remember, are bin liners, soap; toilet roll, first aid (and any medication that you might need); a torch and towels. There are a few more that you might need, however, it just depends on what you would class as essentials.

Things for the Kitchen
One of the greatest perks of staying in a caravan is that you’ll have your own personal kitchen area. It’s a good idea to make sure that you have enough pots and pans, plates, cutlery and glasses. However, you should also make sure that you have enough gas for your oven. If your caravan uses a gas oven, then you should make sure that you stock up on bottled gas supplies, so that you don’t run out in the middle of nowhere – depending on where you plan to stay of course.
It’s a really good idea to try and cook as much as you can in your caravan, as this way you can save money by not eating out all the time. You should still go out and treat yourself but sometimes there’s nothing better than a home cooked meal.

Things for the Car
It’s important that when you are packing stuff for your trip that you put things into your car. However, you could put light things like coats in your caravan. If you do plan to do this, then put the stuff on the floor of your caravan. Just be aware that the heavier your caravan becomes, the harder it is to manoeuvre it.
Legally, you need to make sure that you’ve attached towing mirrors to your car if you are carrying a caravan. You should also make sure that you have attached a copy of your rear number plate onto the back of the caravan. These are just simple things but are very important. Once you’ve done all the legal stuff, then the things that you need to bring with you are your clothes, some water and snacks that you can have whilst driving.
The most important thing to remember though is to just have fun. Going on a caravan trip is going to bring so many new memories. Go enjoy the caravan lifestyle and try and relax if you can. If you are interested in learning more about caravan getaways then click here.
