Did you know that I’m a record breaking mummy?
Last weekend at BritMums Live, myself and the 599 other bloggers who attended are all record breakers after completing and winning the Guinness World Record Attempt for ‘most number of mummies wrapped in 3 minutes!’
Sounds random but as a conference of ‘mummy bloggers’ someone had a sense of humour and decided to wrap us all as mummies… As in- Egyptian Mummies! Have a look at the room after we broke into teams to wrap each other in loo roll!
There was a presentation by Guinness World Records and then their official adjudicators timed our attempt – we had just 3 minutes to wrap as many people as possible as mummies in toilet roll with no visible gaps. On my table, the person who got wrapped from head to toe was Deliciously Ella – right after she’d completed the first keynote speech of the conference. You can watch her whole speech below complete with some exclusive ‘behind the scenes’ footage of a closed door interview I and 5 other invited bloggers conducted with her below…
I narrowly avoided getting wrapped myself. Both Ella and I were the only 2 people on our table wearing trousers (ie: for easy wrapping) but I had to play the weight card and point out that as Ella was slimmer than me, she’d take less time and roll to wrap! Here is my outfit on the Friday:
I got the top and trousers from Monsoon and teamed them with these fab Hotter shoes – the Donna heel in pale gold, £85.00. Hotter shoes are super comfortable thanks to their ‘Comfort Concept’ and these were a great choice as the heel made my outfit more dressy but the flexi grooved soles and the pillow soft underfoot cushioning meant that my feet were less achy after being stood on them all day! Here’s a close up I took during the event when I was admiring them whilst listening to the speeches!
Every year at BritMums Live, choosing my outfits for the weekend is all part of the fun of planning the conference! This was my #OOTD on Saturday:
I loved the vintage style of the Donna heels so much that I went back to them on Sunday when my kids and hubby collected me from the train station and we went off for a Father’s Day dinner. My children couldn’t quite believe the news when I explained that they had a record breaking mummy! I even got a medal to prove it which my son has enjoyed taking to school.
In the end we broke the Guinness World Record with 51 mummies wrapped in full and will appear in the official book of Guinness World Records 2016. The experience certainly gave me bragging rights on the school run Monday morning when I told my friends about the achievement. We all grew up watching Roy Castle presenting Record Breakers as children so they were delighted and impressed to know an actual record breaker!!
In the last 6 years since UK blogging conferences started, things certainly have changed. I wonder what we’ll be doing at BritMums Live next year to top this?!
Well done to Jen and Susanna from BritMums on another great conference and thank you Hotter Shoes for kitting me out in the Donna heels!
