The day I met Marco Pierre White was one I’ll never forget. It happened two years ago but I can still remember what it felt like to hug the man himself, and get all excited with my girly crush!
I stepped into Marco’s kitchen to watch him prepare a Christmas turkey. It was part of a bloggers masterclass on how to prepare the perfect Christmas dinner, sponsored by Lean On Turkey and I’d been selected from a pool of bloggers to enjoy a lesson from world famous chef, Marco Pierre White. Stories about the man are legendary, from throwing complaining diners from his restaurant out onto the street to being the first British chef to be awarded three Michelin stars (and youngest chef ever to win three) then hand them back five years later. His quiet intensity makes him both sexy and scary, although he was more sexy than scary!
Here is my first view of fellow Yorkshire pudding, Marco! (He was born in Leeds like me.)
The plan was to split the bloggers into two smaller groups and go into the kitchen at the restaurant, Marco’s at Stamford Bridge, the Chelsea Football Ground in Fulham, London. Here is the restaurant from the outside…
So whilst we enjoyed the lovely pastries and coffee, the first group went into the kitchen…
When it was my turn, I’d been tipped off by one of the first group on where to stand for the best view! I knew that I’d forget what cooking tips we were taught so I made sure I recorded Marco’s lesson, then I could replay it over and over when it was my turn to prepare Christmas dinner for the family. Here is my video of the day
To catch up with some old friends and meet new ones too, in the setting of this beautiful restaurant and a cooking lesson from Marco himself, the day before my birthday made this a day I’ll never forget. I was thrilled to have the chance to have him sign my book and have a chat. What we spoke about is TOP SECRET!! But here we are after he signed my book.
After everyone had their autographs and pictures, I couldn’t resist another go!
On the way back home, I stopped off at Cafe Rouge with a blogger I’d met on the day, and we spotted the original Sugababes!
So it was lunch with Marco Pierre White and dinner with the Sugababes! Rock n Roll!
If you want to see where the bloggers and I taught Marco about the ’10 second rule’ have a look at this video
Fabulous – you lucky thing! Great idea to record all the wonderful tips and advice for later.
It was such a wonderful day, I’ll never forget it!
I love it, what a starry day…I particularly love how you went in for the proper hug rather than just the polite photo stood next to him, I bet he loved that!!
