Things to do near Peschiera, Lake Garda

Written by

Peschiera is a town in the province of Verona and can be found at the southernmost point of Lake Garda, Italy. We stayed there for a week recently during half term on a family holiday and loved exploring the area which is very pretty, and also ventured further afield with our children – a teenager and a tween.

Here are some of the things to do in and around Peschiera on a family holiday!

Peschiera itself. This attractive town is home to a sixteenth century fortress and the walls are still there today, making it a very quaint and picturesque place to wander. There are plenty of cafes with tables outdoors so you can watch the world go by with an Aperol (spritzer) or a cappuccino and most bars and restaurants have free wifi (very important to the teens!)

Wandering around Peschiera I took some beautiful location shots. It is a very Instagram worthy place! Here are some of the ones I shared…

You can see some funny things in Peschiera too! Whilst we were there a fleet of vintage cars went on a cavalcade through the streets and I love this one – the contrast of the rustic location with the bright and shiny retro Audi!

On our walk away from the main area of the town, we saw some very pretty homes overlooking the lake…

Further afield than Peschiera, are several theme parks – great for a family day out! There is Movieland, Sealife and Gardaland on the outskirts of the town and you can get a free bus to Gardaland / Sealife from the town station. We went to Gardaland with the kids for rollercoasters and plenty of photo opps!

It made a fabulous day out where we could all enjoy the rides and being together. We ate at Gardaland – it was typical theme park food, but speaking of food I must tell you about a fabulous place we found on another occasion, where we all enjoyed dining as a family… Steak N Shake!

Check out this mouthwatering selection…

We explored several of the towns and villages around Peschiera such as Lazise and Bardolino where I captured these shots…

But as Peschiera is the gateway to the whole of Lake Garda, you don’t have to stop there! Because the town sits at the southernmost part of the lake it has access to the other main towns of Garda, Sirmione, and also Malcesine and Limone in the north via a ferry service. It is also located on main motorway routes from Milan in the west and Venice in the east, making it a destination that many Italians flock to for easy access to the Lake.

Peschiera really is a very pretty and laid back place to take the family with loads to do for children of all ages and we really enjoyed our holiday there.

Our base for the holiday was a Canvas Holidays resort: Camping Bella Italia which has excellent facilities of its own but coupled with this incredible location, it makes it a place for a family holiday where every member of the family will find something for them. We were able to spend lots of time together, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company before the week was over and it was back to school and work. A week in a Canvas Holidays Moda at Camping Bella Italia for a family of four in October 2016 will cost you just £300. I chose October when I searched as they are fully booked up for a lot of the summer months – this site is so popular, but Canvas Holidays do have a holiday search facility on their website where you can put in your preferred travel dates and your party size and they will return search results of where they have availability. There are loads of resorts to choose from!
