I’ve just come back from a long weekend in the Lake District. It was a much needed pause in a busy life and chance for me to reconnect with family and enjoy some time in the quiet, just doing whatever takes our fancy without too much planning or organisation.
In my daily life I’m up at 6am each day. In the Lakes I slept until I woke naturally with no alarm. In my daily life I plan my food so I can stick to my diet and so I know what family meals I’m making each day. In the Lakes, I ate whatever looked nice from the menu and enjoyed having someone bring it to me.
We went for a long walk, sat in the bubbling hot tub and enjoyed reading magazines and books (me & husband) and playing on the iPad (kids) whilst covered in our fleecy blankets on the reclining sofa in our lodge, next to a floor-to-ceiling window that let in the bright sunlight.
We were curled up like cats who find the best spot to snooze in, and this relaxed atmosphere inspired me to write 7 blog posts so I enjoyed that burst of productivity brought about by finding a creative flow too!
Here are some pictures from our walk…
It was lovely to have this time to get outside and drop all our usual responsibilities and I came back to my computer feeling refreshed and ready to pick up where I left off.
It made me realise how down time is just as valuable as ‘up time’ and we need to bring balance into our lives through restorative acts like this when we can.
I know it won’t be long until I can repeat this little ‘real life pause’ but at least until then I have the energy to keep juggling a bit longer!
What do you do to boost your energies and find some pause time in your life? I hope you enjoyed this post. Leave me a comment and also head over to my Facebook page and ‘LIKE’ for more from JuggleMum!
