This week I had a ‘mums day out’ to London! I did the morning school run then hot footed it on the bus to the nearest big city to get a train that would take me back – I used to live in London and always get excited about going back. I don’t think of it as home anymore, but I love the familiar feeling I get as I pull into Kings Cross station.
The reason for my trip was to meet up with Carnival Cruise Lines and the 4 other Carnival Ambassadors as we are at the end of our year-long campaign to work with the Carnival team, to talk about their newest ship – Carnival Vista. We have all holidayed onboard and had an amazing time – you can read all my posts from this ambassadorship here.
So what is this little button I hear you ask? And how can I get one installed at home!
We were having lunch at Soho restaurant Bob Bob Ricard, the place which is famous for pouring more champagne than any other restaurant in the United Kingdom! Each table comes with this button and it does what it says – simply press for champagne and a chap like this comes along brandishing a bottle!
It was such a fun lunch (as you cam imagine!) and the food was magnificent, it reminded me of my time on the Vista so it was a fitting location to enjoy a meal with these girls. At Bob Bob Ricard, I chose the Filet Mignon Rossini, a 28 day aged Scotch beef with seared foie gras and confit apple, served with truffle gravy. I of course, had it how you have any great steak… with chips!
The photo also shows my pudding – the BBR Signature Chocolate Glory – a dessert that comes with a little show! Pictured above is the ‘before’ shot, then underneath you can see the ‘during’ shot – watch this video below to see how they present this dish and what happens at the end!
I love good food and always appreciate a little ‘extra’ and so when care is taken to present my meal in a way that is more than just setting a plate down on a table, it delights me! It was this way onboard the Carnival Vista when we ate at the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse.
But before we got to this stage, we first had a presentation!
The Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse is a speciality restaurant onboard Vista and presents an evening dining option that is an alternative to the main dining rooms or the Lido buffet restaurant. There is a nominal fee of $35 USD per person and they recommend you reserve your table as it is a popular place! There are occasionally promotions running where you can get a free bottle of wine if you dine there on the first or second night of the cruise, so bear this in mind and beat the crowds whilst the other passengers are still finding their way around the ship! Here you can see the full menu.
The meal at the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse was exceptional, beautiful tender cuts of meat that make your mouth water! A real must for meat lovers! You can make reservations whilst onboard but if you know you will want to dine there in advance, and maybe take advantage of that first night wine offer, you can reserve your table before you travel on your cruise personaliser – the VIFP club page. (This stands for ‘Very Important Fun Person’!)
Carnival is not only a lot of fun – it is also a place for foodies: food and fun – they speak my language! Have you ever been on a Carnival cruise? Tell me about it in the comments!
