Primula… Paired!

Written by

The Primula blogger club threw out a challenge this month. Pair Primula cheese with something you wouldn’t expect. We all know that cheese goes with crackers, but what else can it go with?

I had a think and came up with a dish that is vegetarian, works as a light lunch, a snack or even a starter for a fancy dinner date type night in.

It’s poached pear, Primula and walnut and it tastes great! (Do you like what I did there? Primula paired – using pear? No? Oh well! Maybe I should stick to just blogging and not try to be a comedian!)

Here’s how you make it.
Serves 2
Takes approx 40 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Original Primula
  • 3x pears
  • 1x lemon
  • Sugar
  • A handful of walnuts
  • Honey – to serve
  • Method:

  • Into a large saucepan put 6 cups of water to 1 cup of sugar. Then grate the rind of 1 lemon into the pan
  • Place the pan on the hob and bring to the boil
  • Peel the pears and keep the stalks intact. Place them into the boiling water, turn down the heat and simmer for 25 minutes
  • Cool the pears in the poaching liquid then drain the pan and cut the pears into halves
  • Lay the pears onto the plate as shown
  • Pipe 3 circles of Primula onto the plate – evenly spaced out between each pear
  • Sprinkle the dish with walnuts
  • Drizzle honey over the top
  • poached pear hero shot

Voila! Enjoy this dish! I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what you think in the comments and also head over to my Facebook page and ‘LIKE’ for more from JuggleMum!
